On April 9th, we welcomed eight new missionaries to the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. This is a great group of missionaries and we look forward to serving with them for the next 18 or 24 months!

.
Complete with our welcome posters, we had a great welcoming committee at the airport to welcome them to Tennessee!

.
After a short meeting and dinner on Wednesday night when they arrived, we met Wednesday morning to start their Day 1 in the TKM. We began with a discussion about their missionary purpose, and how helping people to make covenants with God, and receive the blessings of those covenants, is central to that purpose.
Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ, by helping them receive the restored gospel, through faith in Jesus Christ and Hist Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.
Everyone then headed off to the University of Tennessee campus with fresh copies of the Book of Mormon in hand to find people to teach.

.
One of the best things we get to do as mission leaders is assign trainers to these new missionaries. After they finish back on campus, we come back to the Farragut building and announce their trainer and first area of their mission. It feels like we are announcing the NBA Draft! Lots of anticipation…and super exciting!
