On February 25, 2024 we received a media referral from Kita Eldridge. We called her and asked what enticed her to send in a request to meet with us. She said she had been scrolling on Tik Tok and saw a video from our church.
In her words she described her feelings: “When i was watching that video I felt at peace. It felt like I belonged there.”
Before she even sent in a request to meet us, she came into the church one Sunday, but decided to leave before joining the service. We met in person for the first time for a church tour and the spirit was so sweet. During the tour, as we read the sacrament prayers to Kita, she had a soft smile on her face. She felt at home and didn’t want to leave.
We continued to meet at the church and taught her with some amazing members of the Rogersville branch. Not long after meeting Kita, we were impressed to put her on date for baptism. She was so prepared and willing to accept whatever the Lord asked of her.

The day she accepted to be baptized she said these words:
“So as far as learning about the LDS Church and prophets, I truly feel that this is the true Church of God and that the truth is within the Book of Mormon. With everything that has been written and said, I can feel a true connection and peace whenever I get the chance to read and hear the gospel of the Lord. I’ve honestly felt better than I have, since my mother died, when I started meeting with y’all and coming to church here. The warmth and love is amazing and so pure that I cannot help but feel a true spiritual connection here and with God.”
Kita was baptized on March 16, 2024. She has tremendously helped the Rogersville branch in their missionary efforts!

From Kita
So, I originally started seeing several LDS Tik Tok’s on my “For you” page and it had me thinking about a lot of things. And I knew there was a church near by since I would pass it a lot to go see family in Virginia.
One Sunday I had the urge to checkout the church and see how it was. I got there, feeling extremely nervous and anxious, and I managed to step inside before I just turned around and left.. but having a feeling I was supposed to be there, just nervous of those first steps, I looked up help (missionaries) and submitted my information and request to meet.
Once I met Sister Matheny and Sister Webb, it was easier to take those first few steps, and before I knew it, I was being baptized and joined the church within a month and ½.
